Since December 2017, I have /am participating in several HAED ( Heaven and Earth Design Challenges) hosted by Porsche Parcher in her Facebook Group ( Stitchtalk) .With each challenge , i did a couple of things to ensure that i would have success.
#100Days of HAED
The First Challenge was 100 Days. That was a tough one. I stitch on 90 out of the 100 days.
Based on past experiences, I know I needed to switch it up projects if I wanted to be successful.
For this Challenge this is what I did to be successful.
1. I alternate every 25 day on different HAED Project. I switched between Mini Universe in a Jar and A Little Light Reading.
2. I just put a few stitches in each day and didn't count or put a time limit.
3. I also gave myself permission to skip a day since it was over the Christmas break and we were driving to visit Family. I did struggle to get my stitches in on both pieces so I adjusted the tools I used as well.
Typically I don't write on my copy of the pattern. I found with a HAED . I NEEDED to mark off my progress or I will get lost. I also realized that default Large print page was too small for me . I started making an SUPER Size Working copy with about 1000 stitches. This Change helps me cross off a section faster and reduces the chance that I will mix up a symbol.
I also rewarded myself by buying another HAED and kitting up a 3rd HAED Project.
#30 Days of HAED
The Second Challenge is was only 30 days was a breeze since I survived the first challenge. For this Challenge , I started my 3rd HAED, Gingerbread Manor.
With this Pattern, I printed out my Super-Size Working copies and I made sure that I finished whole SS Page before I moved on, It is really tough to make sure you got right ninja stitches. I didn't skip any days. This is where putting in a few stitches regardless of the number helped. I found that I was cruising through. When I completed this challenge, I rewarded myself with a new Pattern, I purchased Aimee Stewart's Oasis.
#60 Day of HAED
The Third Challenge stared on April 24 , which is another 60 day challenge. I will be splitting the time between two HAEDS. The First half I will continue to work on Gingerbread Manor and the Second Half I will work on Mini Universe in the Jar. The Challenge for me will be that I will be working Gingerbread Manor for 60+ Days . I want to see if I get tired of it.
If that happens then I will switch to Mini Universe in Jar sooner.
Next HAED Challenge
For this Challenge, I don't know how I will reward myself.
I know that another 100 Day challenge is coming up. I would like to work on all three of my HAEDs so the general plan will be to work 34 days on A Little Light Reading and 33 days each on Gingerbread and Universe in Jar.
Overall putting in a few stitches everyday slow adds up and you can see the progress.
Happy Stitching!
